Confessions Of Love From I & II Peter

CONFESSION 1

Scripture

You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

1 Peter 1:22

Confession

My love is sincere and fervent and comes from a pure heart; I love my brothers and sisters in Christ deeply, earnestly and intensely.

Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

CONFESSION 2

Scripture

1 Peter 2:17 – 24

Respect everyone and love the family of believers. Fear God and respect the king. You who are slaves must submit to your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you—not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel. For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment. Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

Confession

I respect everyone and I love the family of believers. I treat everyone honorably.

I love my Christian brothers and sisters. I reverence God. I honour my national leaders, the president or prime minister and other leaders.

I submit to those who are in authority over me whether at work, at church, wherever, with all due respect and reverence even when they are unjust or unfair towards me. I am obedient to the instructions that they give to me even when they can be unkind, unreasonable or cruel.

For the sake of my conscience toward God I am always ready to endure grief, even suffer wrongfully. I understand that it brings pleasure to God when, conscious of his will, I patiently endure unjust treatment. I therefore take undeserved suffering patiently, knowing that such an attitude is acceptable and pleasing to God.

I understand that this is a part of my calling. For God called me to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for me. He is my example, and I must follow in his steps.

He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. Like Him, I will not retaliate when I am insulted, nor threaten revenge when I suffer. I will leave my case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

He personally carried my sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds I am healed. I will therefore personally bear with the sins and the weaknesses of others, forgiving them and giving them a fresh start to live right. I will be a part of their healing and not of their infirmity.

CONFESSION 3

Scripture

1 Peter 3:7 – 14

In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.

Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.

Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil.”

Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.

Confession

As a husband I honour my wife. I treat my wife with understanding as we live together. I recognize that she may be weaker than I am, but she is my equal partner in God’s gift of new life. I treat her right and hence my prayers are not hindered.

I continue to grow in my knowledge and hence understanding of my wife. I make a purposeful and deliberate enquiry and investigation of her. I seek to be aware of her, of everything about her, how she thinks, how she feels. I endeavour to feel her heart, to feel what she feels, to the point where I can be increasingly certain and sure of various and different things about her.

As I do this I also give, apportion and bestow, value, esteem and dignity, unto my wife, in a way that recognizes, appreciates and acknowledges the fact that she is the weaker vessel and yet is an equal heir with me of the grace of life. In other words, in any way that I think she is weaker than me I step into the breach as it were, and take up that slack and not look down on her for her perceived weakness or berate her in any way for it. Acting in this manner puts my wife and I in perfect unity and harmony and closes the door against Satan’s ability to hinder us. It guarantees answers to our prayers.

I endeavour to be harmonious and agreeable with other Christians, sympathetic and compassionate towards them and willingly accepting the same from them. I love them like biological brethren, being fond of them and liking them; tender hearted, courteous, kind.

I will not repay evil for evil. I will not retaliate with insults when people insult me. Instead, I will pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called me to do, and he will grant me His blessing.

I want to enjoy life and see many happy days; therefore, I keep my tongue from speaking evil and my lips from telling lies. I turn away from evil and do good. I search for peace, and work to maintain it. The eyes of the LORD are watching over me as I do right, and His ears are open to my prayers. I will come to no harm by doing good. But even if I do suffer for doing what is right, God will reward me for it. So, I will not worry or be afraid of any threats.
