One Sunday while I was praying and preparing for church, I just had these following verses of scripture just constantly intruding into my thoughts, playing and replaying within me. Perhaps they’re for someone today.
Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”:
Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NKJV)
Other than having a legitimate reason to stay away, like unavoidable work or illness, go to church today or this week.
Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honour him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NLT)
…not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV)
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
No matter your circumstances or reasons, now is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing. You need your brethren in Christ and your brethren in Christ need you. You need to be in involved in God’s mission, corporately with other Christians.
In fact, if we’re going through some stuff, we need to come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate the Lord’s Day dawning when we’ll finally come through for all eternity!
Other than having a legitimate reason to stay away, like unavoidable work or illness, go to church today or this week.
Support God’s work with your presence and with your gift.
There’ll never be a better day or time to go to church and to serve God than today and than right now! God is speaking to you. Don’t put it off to another day or another time. Obey today!
This world will try and keep us so busy, wrapped up and preoccupied with the affairs of this life that the Word and the Life of God in us is choked right out like the seed that fell among the thorns. But please remember that friendship with the world is enmity against God (James 4:4). We must regularly consciously choose to serve God, and to fellowship regularly with His people.
